2026 Isuzu D-Max EV revealed
A battery-electric version of Isuzu’s D-Max – the D-Max EV is expected to be released in Australia next year.
The D-Max EV recently released in the UK has 3500kg towing capacity and 1000kg payload to match the 3.0-litre turbo-diesel versions.
Off road capability has been catered for by having a four-wheel drive system via an electric motor on each axle.
It is understood that this results in a small reduction in ground clearance from 240mm to 210mm and wading depth from 800mm to 600mm.
The D-Max EV is a little heavier weighing in at 2350kg which is 200kgs heavier than the X-Terrain’s 2150kg.
Acceleration from 0-100km/h is claimed at being10.1 seconds with a top speed of 128km/h.
The 4WD system includes regenerative braking to top up the battery and fast charging of up to 50kW enabling a 20-80% battery recharge in 60 minutes compared to 10 hours for a full charge from zero at the standard 11kW rate.
Inside, there is a 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with smartphone mirroring, a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats and front/rear parking sensors.
Isuzu Ute Australia has said that it is considering the release of several electrified versions of the D Max including mild-hybrid (MHEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV), full electric (EV) and even fuel-cell electric (FCEV) and extended-range electric (EREV) powertrains to meet the new vehicle emission standard targets.
